Conception Tile. was founded in 1976 by Randal E. Phillips of Lompoc, California. Initially, the company specialized in basic tile installations including bathroom showers, tubs, tile flooring, kitchen and bathroom counters, fireplaces, patios, and other associated applications. After several years, Conception Tile began to expand its workforce and also diversified its product base to incorporate new elements of the stone fabrication industry to their general practice. By the mid 1980â?Ts, the company was developing a reputation as a premier contractor capable of serving customers with marble, glass block, tile, and several other stone products. By the early 1990â?Ts, Conception Tile was no longer soliciting business from the local Lompoc valley alone. As this time, Randy was accepting jobs from as far north as San Luis Obispo and as far South as Santa Barbara.
Around the mid-1990â?Ts, Americaâ?Ts obsession with granite was growing rapidly, yet still seen as a high-end luxury. Randy knew that the key to maintaining an edge on the local competition was to explore new products, attract new markets, and expand his
client base. As a result, Conception Tile began to acquire, fabricate, and install granite products as well. The decision to incorporate this new stone product to his business meant re-evaluating his entire operation.
The goal of any organization should be to archive the greatest customer service and satisfaction through better quality, faster response times, lower cost, greater flexibility, and ultimately a superior end product. In the construction industry, the challenge of meeting every customerâ?Ts demands and fulfilling all their expectations is especially daunting. Our jobs come in the form of home remodels, new custom-built residences, commercial building, and housing tracts of over 1,000 units. Our customers come in the form of homeowners, general contractors, architects, builders, developers, and designers from a wide array of trades.

The main reason for our success is due to our reputation being spread by word-of mouth across the region. Since Randyâ?Ts initial mission was to provide a superior quality product accompanied by unparalleled customer service, it was extremely imperative that this objective not be sacrificed as his company grew, expanded, and evolved.
In knowing this, Randy ensured that as the company struggled through the growing pains, the customerâ?Ts satisfaction was always kept a top priority. Currently, Conception Tile operates out of a 25,000 square foot facility at 1633 West Central Avenue in Lompoc, California. Our area of operations has expanded to as far north as Paso Robles and as far south as Ventura. We currently employ over 65 tile setters, granite fabricators, installers, templaters, office personnel and design consultants. We stock approximately 800 granite slabs in our yard that can be viewed at any time.
In the fall of 2006, we are anticipating the grand opening of our deigned showroom with full kitchen and bathroom displays of tile and granite. In addition, Conception Tile has began incorporating the lasted in digitally advance stone fabrication technology.
Our specialization in electronic templating techniques and CNC slab fabrication machinery has enabled us to rise above the competition and offer a superior product in less time.
