Looper Servicenter

324 N Stonestreet Ave
Rockville, MD 20850
f you are interested in old fashioned family values as well as true honesty and integrity in a business, then Looper Servicenter, Inc. (LSI) is the place to come for all of your automotive repair and service needs. LSI began its business life as Looper Brothers in 1931. Leon and Ray Looper began the business that is currently known as LSI in the vicinity of North Washington Street and Beall Avenue.

What has become an institution in Rockville, Montgomery County, and the Washington metropolitan area, began doing business when Rockville was a sleepy little farming town. At a time when individual families were just beginning to own cars, Looper Brothers was both an Esso gas station and a full-service automotive mechanical garage.

The current owner and President of LSI, Glenn Looper, started working for Looper Brothers when he was 14 years old. Glenn, who was Ray Looper's son and Leon Loopers nephew, worked at that time pumping gas and washing cars.

In 1970, Ray and Leon retired. Glenn, who had been working as a mechanic for Looper Brothers, bought the business at that time and incorporated it, under the name Looper Servicenter, Inc. The business moved to its present location on Stonestreet Avenue in 1971.

After taking over the business, Glenn began the process of modernizing the business and has successfully brought the business into the 21st century. When Glenn began running the business, it continued operating the general automotive service facility, but stopped operating as an Esso gas station.

In 1971, LSI acquired an automotive radiator business. Through this acquisition, the business branched out into the area of automotive cooling and heat transfer. In addition, in 1992, the business bought a franchise called Gas Tank Renu, which provides the business with the ability to use a patented process for refurbishing automotive gas tanks (as well as the gas tanks used by trucks, other vehicles and certain machinery).

The LSI that exists and operates today is as different from the original Looper Brothers as the today's City of Rockville is from the sleepy farming town that Rockville was in 1931. What has remained the same is that LSI is still a family business that operates with the honesty and integrity that the original Looper Brothers had. However, today's LSI is a very modern business offering general automotive services, automotive heating and cooling specialization, as well as Gas Tank Renu's services.
