The OSU VTH is both a local practice hospital ,as well as, a major referral center staffed by board certified specialists. We serve the local Stillwater OK area(within 30 mile radius) as a source for wellness and routine pet care and Oklahoma and surrounding states as a referral center for pets and animals which have complicated medical and surgical problems. All species are cared for and these include horses, cows and other food animals, camelids, dogs, cats, and exotic pets. We are open for regular appointments Monday thru Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday but always available for emergency care for your pet. In addition, our hospital has a 24 hour emergency service for all species year around and provides farm calls for both horses and other large animals. We are the only veterinary hospital in Oklahoma which provides 24 hour intensive care management for pets and our veterinarians are available 24 hours a day.

Cardiology: Dr. Nicole Ponzio is our board certified cardiologist and chief of the cardiology service. The cardiology service provides diagnosis, management and care for all cardiac diseases with all of the state of the art equipment. In addition, special procedures such as pacemaker implantation, breed certifications, and treatment for some congenital heart defects is offered. Ophthalmology: Dr. Margi Gilmour is our board certified ophthalmologist and is chief of the ophthalmology sevice. All diseases of the eye are managed by Dr. Gilmour in multiple species. In addition, cataract surgery, laser surgery for glaucoma and tumor excision, certification exams for breed related problems, intraocular lens implants, and corneal grafting are a few of the special procedures which Dr. GIlmour provides. Small animal surgery service: This service is comprised of faculty who are board certified surgeons and 3 surgical residents. The service provides referral patient care as well as surgical care for local client's pets. The minor to the very complex surgeries are performed on a daily basis. Many different surgical procedures are performed but some of the specialty procedures offered include non-invasive athroscopy surgery, hip replacement, surgery for complex bone fractures, neurosurgery, and tibial plateau leveling surgery for rupture anterior cruciate ligament. In addition, a total orthopedic/neurosurgical rehabilitation service is provided thru the surgery service.


Small Animal Internal Medicine Service: The service is comprised of four board certified internists, 3 residents, and rotating interns. This service provides diagnosis, treatment, and management of many of the complex diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism in cats, Cushing's disease, liver disease, pulmonary disease, etc. It serves the regoin as the major internal medicine referral center. All forms of videoendoscopy are offered thru this service including bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, and rhinoscopy.

Theriogenology Service: This is the service which specializes in reproductive problems of animals. Our theriogenology service provides care for horses, cattle, sheep, camelids, small ruminants, dogs, and cats. Assisting owners with breeding management problems and infertility are the main fucntions of this service. In addition, breeding soundness exams, reproductive ultrasound, videoendoscopy of the reproductive tract, surgical and trans-cervical artificial insemination, and specailized semen evaluation with the state of the art semen analysis machine are just a few of the services this section provides.

Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Service: This service is dedicated to the treatment and management of diseases of cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and camelids. Our facilities allow for handling and treatment of large rodeo bulls by way of our large hydraulic chutes which enable us to turn these magnificent animals on thier side. This section provides 24 hour farm call availability in the Stillwater area and 24 hour hospital care of all of the above species. We have clinicinas who also specilaize in the care of camelids and baby crias which have become a very popular animal to own in recent years. In addition, Pot bellied pigs are cared for thru this service.

Equine Medicine and Surgery Service: This service is dedicated to the care of medical and surgical disorders of the horse. We provide 24 hour care and foal ICU care all year long. This service is comprised of two board certified internists and two board certified surgeons as well as five residents and interns. In addition, we provide equine farm calls to the surrounding Stillwater area. In this way, we can come to you without the horse needing to be trailered to the hospital.
