For nearly 50 years,University Women's Health Specialists has cared for Honolulu's female residents, as part of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Healthat the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. It began as an OB/GYN residency trainingprogram in the Mary Foster wing of the Kapi'olani Hospital, and has sinceblossomed to become one of the school's largest and most powerful clinicaldepartments.The department currently features three professor emeritus, as well as28 full-time, four part-time, and 107 volunteer and adjunct faculty.
