In 1997, Bert took a position as a staff attorney for the Social Security Office of Hearings and Appeals, drafting appellate decisions of Administrative Law Judges.
In September 2000, Bert joined the Phoenix law firm of Schmitt, Schneck, Smyth & Herrod, where he worked in the areas of civil litigation, contract litigation, business litigation and family law.
Bert soon had the opportunity to form a law partnership with Steven B. Yarbrough, currently an Arizona State Senator, and Boyd W. Dunn, the former mayor of Chandler and a retired Judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court. At Yarbrough, Moll & Dunn, he practiced general litigation, business law, family law, estate planning, juvenile law, Social Security law, personal injury and probate.
