Dahlonega Veterinary Hospital is equipped to provide a wide variety of diagnostic & therapeutic services to care for your petâ?Ts complete health care needs.
Surgical Services
Our surgical suite is designed to perform a full variety of surgical procedures.
Dentistry
We have one suite dedicated to emergencies and dental procedures. Our dental services include dental scaling and polishing, removing tartar beneath the gum line, dental periodontal therapy and tooth extractions. These services are comparable to what you would receive at your own dentist. All of our patients are intubated and fully monitored during our dental procedures. Dental care is very important for pets of all ages.
Anesthesia
We offer the safest anesthetics available in the veterinary field. Our standard anesthetic agents are Telazol and Isoflurane. These drugs are the standards in the veterinary field. In addition, we offer Propofol and Sevoflurane for your pet. These drugs have a shorter duration of action which means that they do not have as long an effect on the body as other drugs. Because of this, it is much easier to maintain your pet at a safe anesthetic level. Our technicians will go over our surgical consent form in further detail at the time of your petâ?Ts surgical check in. All anesthetic procedures are extensively monitored with modern equipment to track your petâ?Ts vital signs.
Radiology Services
Our on-site modern X-ray equipment provides high quality digital radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of your petâ?Ts presenting problems. This could include things like orthopedic problems (Example: herniated discs and broken legs), abdominal diseases (Example: enlarged organs, bladder stones, foreign bodies), and thoracic diseases (Example: pneumonia, cardiomegaly). Because we are taking pictures digitally, there are no messy chemicals or films. We have the ability to modify the radiographs after they are taken to help aid in better contrast and quality in the picture. The benefit to your pet is that we do should not have to retake pictures of your pet. If your pet would require referral to a specialist, your radiographs can easily be sent via email.
Ultrasound
Our ultrasound machine lets us view abdominal organs and look in further detail at its structure. This aids in diagnosing diseases such as foreign bodies, bladder stones, and cancers. We can also diagnose heart disease and monitor treatment progress.
Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. We also utilize specialized veterinary laboratories for specific diagnostics and consultations when necessary.
Individualized Flea Control Programs
We can develop a program for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Preventative Medicine
One of the most important things that Dahlonega Veterinary Hospital offers is a thorough examination of your pet annually. During this examination we will make sure your pet is in overall good health by taking a thorough history and performing a complete physical examination. We will also administer vaccinations and test for heartworms and intestinal parasites.
Dietary Counseling
We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, wellness and geriatric stages. We carry a wide variety of Hills foods in house at all times, but we can also order your own special diet from other sources such as Royal Canin and Eukanuba. All the diets we carry are 100% returnable. If your pet does not like one flavor, we will try another one until your pet is happy and eating properly.
Geriatric & Behavioral Counseling
We can address behavioral problems such as spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression issues, just to name a few. As your pet gets older, they may begin to show signs of diseases like arthritis, cognitive dysfunction (similar to Alzheimerâ?Ts in your pet), urinary incontinence and other diseases. Some of these diseases are very subtle or may impact your lives daily. We will help determine if there is a medical issue with your pet and help try to treat your pet and improve his quality of life.
Bathing & Grooming
We offer professional grooming services. This can be as simple as a bath, removing mats, a summer shavedown or as fancy as a full styled grooming.
Boarding
We provide boarding in climate controlled accommodations as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday as well as scheduled times during the weekend and holidays. All pets that board must be current on their examinations and vaccines. Fire and security monitoring is maintained on a 24 hour basis. Donâ?Tt want your pet at home alone during the day? Bring them in for day boarding.
