We're happy to be a full-service hospital serving pets and their families in the greater Cedar Falls/Waterloo metropolitan area.

About 90% of our patients are cats and dogs, but we also see a variety of birds, exotic and "pocket pets." The doctors also work with the Black Hawk Humane Society treating pets awaiting adoption.

In addition to providing basic health care (physical examinations, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, X-rays and ultrasound, and 24-hour emergency coverage), surgical services include soft tissue surgery and orthopedic procedures such as knee repair and internal and external fracture repair. Surgical procedures are performed using safe inhalation anesthetics monitored electronically and by surgical assistants, in a modern surgical suite.

We offer behavioral consulting to clients whose pets need help fitting into the family or other social situations to which they are exposed. This can often be the difference between a rewarding relationship and a family pet that is put up for adoption due to behavior issues.

Acupuncture therapy is offered as alternative or adjunctive therapy for conditions ranging from arthritis to allergies and various digestive problems.

Dental procedures, such as ultrasonic tartar scaling and tooth extractions, are being performed more frequently as people become increasingly aware of the importance of good oral health for their pets. We include dental evaluations in each annual wellness exam so we can prevent or correct dental problems before they affect your pet's overall health.

We have an in-house laboratory for diagnostic blood chemistry, hematology and basic pathology, while biopsies and other more specialized tests are sent to various outside reference laboratories around the country.

We are able to consult with, or refer your pet to, specialists at Iowa State's Veterinary College or other institutions around the country if his or her care would require that.
