Thank you for choosing Cherokee Animal Clinic! We have cared for pets in the Overland Park area since 1964. Our veterinary hospital has gone through many transformations in the last four decades, but our commitment to providing the best veterinary medicine and compassionate care for pets has never changed.
Cherokee Animal Clinic started out as a 1,200-square-foot building in 1964. Dr. William Murray founded the practice, and he was joined by Dr. Richard Branson in 1970. Dr. Branson took over ownership of the clinic in 1984 and cared for pets here until 2005, when Dr. James Kontras and Dr. Mike Stenstrom took over the hospital.
Our large, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital actually features two separate clinics side by side: one for dogs and one for cats. Both clinics together offer five exam rooms, an American Animal Hospital Association-approved surgical suite, a hospital ward, an intensive care unit, two pharmacies, two waiting rooms, two reception areas and a full-service boarding kennel for dogs with a separate area for cats. We also offer a small garden settee for those times when a peaceful place is needed to discuss your pet's health or if a client needs to just "stop and smell the flowers." It is our goal to offer high-quality veterinary medicine that combines modern technology with old-fashioned comfort for your pet.
