Portland Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice offering routine services such as exams, vaccines, and other preventive medicine, as well as treating sick and injured animals. We do spays, neuters, declaws and dental cleanings. We, also, do boarding and baths. We focus on client education, so we take our time with our clients and their' furry family members, so you feel confidently in control of your pet's healthcare; being able to make informed decisions. We recommend microchipping your pet so that if he/she gets lost, you have a better chance of recovery. We use the Home Again system and recommend AKC's Companion Animal Recovery national registry.
We are open six days a week with extended hours for your convenience. We take appointments, but are happy to work in any walk-ins as well.
We see dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits and all other pocket pets. We have an educated, caring staff that work to insure that your pet's visit is as stress-free as possible. We love what we do and hope to always rise above your expectations of how a veterinary visit should be.
We welcome client feedback. If we have not met your needs with the utmost in satisfaction, please let us know, so we may continue to grow and improve. We are faithfully here for you and your pets.
Our veterinarians are Dr. Rafael Fontanez and his wife, Dr. Tammy Fontanez. They both graduated in 1991 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Rafael Fontanez sees the majority of the patients between the hours of 9am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday, with his wife filling in as needed.
Logan Durham is our senior veterinary assistant. She had been employed here for quite some time and has a special gift for making the pets feel comfortable while in her care
Toccara Franklin is another veterinary assisantant on staff. She has been employed here for over a year and she also has a special gift for making pets feel comfortable while here.
Both Logan and Toccara are responsible for assisting in the exam rooms. Other responsibilities include making our boarding facility clean and sanitary for the pets that are boarded here. If your pet needs a bath or a nail trim while boarding with us, either staff member can take care of the task.
We have two receptionists on staff. Olivia Adame, who has been here for 10 years, and our more recent hire Tracey Coates. Both are ready to greet you at the door with a friendly smile and help you schedule any appointment needed. Some of Olivia's responsibilities included Preferred Pet Health Plan accounts and vaccine reminders, while some some of Tracy's responsibilites include questions and email reminders.
Our staff here at Portland Veterinary Hospital is very caring, compassionate and always put your pet first. We strive on being friendly, down to earth and try very hard to make any pet feel welcome and at home.
