New models of the Dlink extender are also equipped with the Smart Connect feature with the help of which the extender automatically switches to the faster frequency band. To use the Smart Connect feature, a user has to keep the same SSID and same Wi-fi password on both the Wi-fi bands of the Dlink extender. Smart Connect feature is enabled by default and could be configured through the dlinkap.local interface.
