Business Description: Shane's - The Pawn Shop, Inc. was started in 1955 by Joseph Z. Schoeneman and his uncle Joe Schoeneman. The business closed when there was a fire in 1968 and Uncle Joe retired.

David, who is a graduate gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, chose to work as a diamond sorter for a diamond dealer in Chicago. He moved to Australia in 1982 and continued working as a diamond sorter for a diamond dealer in Melbourne. In 1985, David married Carmencita Ordona, an internal auditor for one of the biggest business conglomerates in the Philippines. They decided to move back to the United States and in June 1989, Shane's - The Pawn Shop, Inc. was reborn.
